Copper has excellent conductivity, and therefore, it has wide applications in electric motors, startors, electronics and batteries. Especially with growing trends for Electric Vehicles, the utilization of copper has increased, giving rise to increasing demands for Copper processing applications.

The assemblies used in these applications have numerous small components and sub assemblies. Welding those requires precise position and pattern recognition and precise power inputs.

Oscillating beam is ideal for such processes.

The RLW-S optics is specially developed by Scansonic for this challenging task of welding small Copper components and hairpins.
It uses the same concept of fast moving deflection mirrors for controlling beams, which gives flexibility, precision and speed.

Moreover, it has a camera sensor which is placed coaxially to the laser beam. This camera does the sensing through imaging, recognizes patterns, feeds the inputs to the main control system and accordingly the laser beam weld path is controlled.

According to each application, image recognition data is adapted and optimized by the system.

Scansonic RLW - S

The RLW-S is ideal for the demanding task of welding of copper hairpins. This is made possible in part by the integrated camera sensor coaxially positioned to the laser beam. The sensor identifies the processing point even with different levels of reflectivity on the hairpin surfaces. It also ensures continuous process monitoring for high process reliability.
