Laser welding is a process that uses a focused laser beam to join two pieces of material
together. The laser beam melts the material at the point of contact, and the melted material
solidifies to form a joint. Laser welding is a precise, fast, and reliable process that is used in
various industries. E.g. Automotive components, Aerospace, Sheet Metal, EV sector etc. To

Laser Automation offers diverse ranges and types of laser welding solutions which are
customized according to client’s specific requirements. The design of machine varies on the
component to be welded, there are various factors. We offer solutions for variety of welding
applications like Aluminum Welding, Copper Welding, Hybrid Welding. But the two broad
categories of any laser based solutions are Robotic and CNC based applications.
Laser Automation, as the name says offers complete turnkey solution which includes laser
source, optic and Automation. Automation can be either robot based or CNC based
depending on the application.
LAPL offers wide variety of fiber Laser and Diode Laser sources. Depending on requirement of weld penetration depth as well as cycle time, power range of laser source is decided. We offer multi kW range high power lasers for various welding requirements. While choosing the Laser source, long term stability and performance along with service support are very important factors which should not be overlooked.
There are many different types of optics such as fixed spot optics, zoom optics (variable spot size), multi-spot optics, wobbling, remote welding optics, laser brazing optics, etc. Generally, Remote Welding and Laser Brazing optics are used for Automotive because they offer better cycle time as compared to other optics. Ultimately, the decision of choosing right optics depends on part geometry and weld requirements.
Certain materials like some aluminum alloys cannot be welded directly to each other, so such type of applications require a filler material. So, the filler material in wire form is fed to the weld pool using wire feeder mechanism. NOTE: This not necessary for all applications, it is only necessary in applications which require filler material.

This depends majorly on the components. If you want to work on huge variety of components on multiple stations, then it makes sense to go for robot based solution but if your component does not have much variants, and precision is important for you, then CNC is preferred.
However, these are just general guidelines, it is recommended to consult with experts and technical team to decide right type of solution.
Price of Laser welding machine varies according to application. LAPL offers machines customized according to client requirement and the price can vary staring from Rs.80 Lakh onwards .
Factors affecting price:
Laser source: Power of laser source is one of major deciding factors in price, sources with higher power are more expensive. Components material properties are also important factors to be considered while choosing laser source. For instance, Materials like Copper require
specialized laser sources like Blue Lasers for welding because of their high reflectivity.
Automation and fixture design: Normally, Robot/ CNC, Enclosure and control panels are included in all machines but for parts with complex geometry, the fixture also becomes costlier. Also, for some applications, customized software, PLC programming and other poka
yoke features are required which affect the price. The degree of automation is the deciding factor in cost.
Prices can also be affected by several other factors like import duties, market conditions, etc. so we recommend to consult our experts .
